Australian Citizenship Test
As of 1 October 2007, all persons wishing to apply for Australian Citizenship by Conferral are required to sit the Citizenship Test prior to lodging their application.
Test dates in Washington D.C. are conducted approximately once per month. Before organising a test date we encourage you to confirm your eligibility.

You may request a test date from our office by sending a request via:

Please include the following information in your request:
• Relevant information regarding your current Australian Residency status.
• Your full name and date of birth.
• All relevant current residential and contact details.
• Your preferred test month, allowing for a minimum of four weeks from the date of your request.
On the day of the test you will need to provide:
• an endorsed photograph of your face and shoulders;
• your full birth certificate;
• your current passport or travel document;
• up to two other forms of identification which has your photograph, signature and current residential address (such as a driver's license);
• if applicable, a change of name certificate issued by the Australian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages or official documentation from your country of residence;
• if applicable, a marriage certificate if you have adopted your married name.
We will confirm your request via the same means as your original correspondence.
